Fun Tour of Meguro Gajoen

Old “Stairway of 100 Steps” & beautiful wooden panels

Meguro Gajoen, established in 1931, started as a first class Japanese restaurant. Later, they added an annex, banquet rooms, guest rooms, and wedding hall. It was Japan’s very first wedding hall. The original buildings don’t exist anymore except for “the Stairway of 100 Steps” and its seven unique banquet rooms. The stairs and rooms (they truly are unique and spectacular) are open to the public on a restricted basis, but please note that taking photos is strictly prohibited.

The inside of the modern building is nicely decorated with seasonal flowers and wooden panels, all with an authentic Japanese flavor. The most attractive thing for me were the colorful wooden panels flanking the long approach in. They depict the customs of Japan's Edo era, depicting beautiful Japanese women in kimono.
