In Japan, the demand for glassware items really took off in the Meiji era, but it was commonly seen as something that was utility-based rather than craft-based for quite some time. "Japanese Glass Craft Pioneers" is a special exhibition taking place at the Koriyama City Museum of Art until November 23rd, and it looks at some of the key figures who paved the way for this art form in Japan. Pieces by Iwata Toshichi, Kozo Kagami, and Junshiro Sato will be on display, showcasing glass as an art form in all of its glory.

Adult admission to the event is 800 yen.

Getting there

The Koriyama City Museum of Art is located around 10 minutes by taxi from the JR Koriyama Station, served by various train lines including the Tokaido Shinkansen and Tokaido Main Line.

Alternatively, for those who plan to drive to the museum, it's around 20 minutes rom the Ban-etsu Expressway's Koriyama Higashi Interchange. Free parking is available at the museum for up to 150 vehicles.
