The Kyotographie International Photography Festival is held annually over 4 weeks during the spring, attracting over 250,000 visitors since its inaugural opening in 2013. Individual exhibitions are staged across Kyoto in a variety of both traditional and contemporary locations, bringing people together to celebrate the art of photography.

For 2017, the theme is 'Love' and will explore its many forms from providing social cohesion and propagation of offspring to ensuring the survival of our species. The exhibitions will also tackle our many different experiences of love, which vary depending on background, religion, history and geography.

For 2018, the theme is "Up", represented by over 13 exhibitions.
