A special event taking place at the Okayama Prefectural Museum of Art looks into the world of Meissen porcelain, with a specific focus on animal themed porcelain items. Meissen was Europe's first hard-paste porcelain, and has a history dating back to 1710.
Around 120 animal-inspired Meissen pottery pieces will be exhibited at the event, with an impressive level of detail and incredibly realistic features.
Adult admission to the special event is priced at 1100 yen.
Getting there
The Okayama Prefectural Museum of Art is located approximately 15 minutes walk from JR Okayama Station's Korakuen Exit (East Exit). Buses are also available from the station - take the Okayama Korakuen Bus (Uno Bus) from platform 1 outside the Korakuen Exit until you reach the dedicated stop for the museum.
For those who plan to drive, there is on-site parking available, but it's fairly limited with only 38 spaces. On exhibition days the parking lot fills up quickly, so anticipate potentially having to use a paid lot in the surrounding streets.
