Otsu-e: Another History of Edo Painting 2020

Explore this folk art dating back to 17th Century Japan

Local: Tokyo Station Gallery Data: Sep 19th - Nov 8th 2020

From September 19th until November 8th, the Tokyo Station Gallery is hosting a special exhibition titled " Otsu-e: Another History of Edo Painting". Otsu-e is a traditional type of folk art dating back to the 17th Century, but these kinds of works haven't typically been displayed in a gallery format before - they're more commonly seen as historical documents and folklore items. The exhibition looks at Otsu-e in a more artistic way, and encourages visitors to appreciate their unique charm and the window they provide into the Edo period.
