Records and Memories of Ueno 2021-2022

Delving into history at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum

Local: Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum Data: Nov 17th - Jan 6th 2022

These days, the Ueno area of Tokyo is a hub for cultural activities, shopping, and more -- but what was this part of the city like in years gone by? A special event at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum will explore various different works relating to Ueno, including ukiyo-e prints, photography, and more. In total, around 60 works will be displayed at the event, including the likes of Shungyo Nagashima's "Balloons at Ueno Park" (1890) and Kineo Kuwabara's "Ueno Station, Shitaya-ku (Taito-ku)" (1936).

Through each piece on display, visitors will get a glimpse into how the area has grown and changed over time.

Admission to the event is free of charge.
